SEM Laboratory participates in research programs of Biology and other Departments of University of Silesia as well as in projects of other research institutes. The SEM Lab is involved in a wide range of research, from Experimental Biology, Environmental Protection to Plant and Microbial Biotechnology. Research projects are usually conducted in association with our users and are initiated by members of the SEM Unit.

Research cooperation:

1) high-resolution imaging of biological and material samples (detectors SE, BSE, TE, topographical contrast)

2) compositional surface topography imaging (detector BSE)

3) energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDS): point, linescan and elemental mapping (detector SDD).

4) Cryo-SEM preparation and imaging of hydrated biological and environmental samples

5) scientific and technical consultations in SEM sample preparation methods of biological andmaterial samples, interpretation and image analysis of biological surface structures
